Title:-Assessment of efficacy of shuddha shilajatu with Anupana
Agnimantha svarasa in sthaulya (Obesity) with special reference to Hyperlipidaemia.
Dr.
Rupali Kulkarni had submitted her dissertation in 2007 for the P.G. degree M.D.
(Kaya Chikitsa). Her guide was Dr. S. V. Deshpande & Research center was
Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune (M.S.) India
Dr.
Rupali Kulkarni in her research work tried to study the efficacy of shuddha
shilajatu with juice of Agnimantha (Premna
intigrifolia) in sthaulya. She had enrolled 60 patients of sthaulya.
Study was carried out in two groups –
1) Trial group – In these
patients shuddha shilajatu in the dose
of 2 gm twice daily was administered
before food with 40 ml juice of agnimantha ( premna Intigrifolia) for 60 days .
2) Control group – In these patients
(Katu shigru patra churna) drumstick leaves powder was administered 5 gm twice
daily before food with lukewarm water for 60 days.
Assessment criteria was as follows-
Subjective criteria like weakness (Daurbalya),
Body odour (Daurgandhya), excessive sweating (Svedabadha), excessive hunger
(Kshudha- atimatra), Excessive thirst (Pipasa- atimatra) was assessed with the
help of appropriate gradation from 0-3. 0 = No symptom/ absence of symptom, 1 =
mild symptom, 2 = moderate, 3=severe.
Objective criteria like body weight , B.M.I.
corpulence index, Waist circumference. W.H. Ratio, Lipid profile was measured before
& after treatment.
Above research was concluded as follows –
i)
Shuddha shilajatu in the dose of
2 gm twice daily , administered before
food with 40 ml juice of Agnimantha ( premna Intigrifolia) for 60 days was
found effective to reduce all signs & symptoms of Obesity
ii)
Shuddha
shilajatu with juice of Agnimantha (Premna
intigrifolia) was significantly effective over the powder of Drumstick
leaves.
iii)
It
is significantly effective in all signs & symptoms medoroga.
iv)
No
Major side effects or adverse effects were encountered.
