Clinical assessment of Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalpa on mukhadushika (Acne vulgaris).



Title:-Clinical assessment of Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalpa on mukhadushika (Acne vulgaris).

Dr. Bhaskar D. Date had submitted his dissertation to Pune University in 1999. His guide was Prof. Dr. P. H. Kulkarni & Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune, (M.S.) India.

          Dr. Bhaskar Date in his research work tried to assess clinically effect of Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalpa on Acne vulgaris.

          For the study Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalpa was prepared with all 26 ingredients in equal proportion by weight & it was prepared as mentioned in Bharat Bhaishya Ratnakar . The drug was given in the dose of 2 tablets of 250 mg each = 500 mg three times a day, for 6 weeks = 42 days.

          For clinical study patients present with symptoms of Acne vulgaris but having other dermatological or any other medical problem such as scabies, eczema were excluded. 150 patients were selected randomly. The grouping of patients was as follows. 200 patients were in pipeline.

a)     Group 1 = 20 patients treated with placebo means tablets of sucrose.
b)    Group 2 = 150 patients treated with Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalp.

Laboratory analysis of the drug showed that the drug sample, in the dosage of three tablets to be having bacteriostatic affect against the following bacteria namely Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas acruginas and Proteus mirabilis.

Clinical assessment was done according severity of symptoms like discolouration, swelling and distribution.
The study was concluded as follows-
Tab Mahamanjishthadi ghanasar kalpa,when given in a dose of 2 Tab TDS for 6 weeks showed Good results in the patients of Acne Vulgaris.
