          Dr. Vaijayanti Rajaram Dhopade had submitted her dissertation to Pune University in 2006 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Kaya Chikitsa). Her guide was Dr. Anupama Shimpi & Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune (M.S.) India.

          Dr. Vaijayanti Dhopade in her research work tried to study the efficacy of Krumighna churna’ in worms (Krumiroga) with special reference to worms in stool (purishaja krumi.)

          For this study she had enrolled patients. Before starting the treatment hypothesis study was done on 10 patients to decide the dose. Drug used vidanga phala churna ( 2 parts), Palashbeeja churna ( 1 Part) Kutaja twak churna ( 1 part) tablet 500 mg/tab.& dose was given 4 tablets – 3 times a days  for 15 days with lukewarm water about 50 to 100 ml. This study was carried out on patients having age between 10 to 20 years. She had not permitted drugs like anti spasmodic & analgesic, antiamoebic, anti diarrhoeal, other antihelminthic drug haematinic drug during the trial.

Criteria for assessment was as follows –

a)     Visual analogue. b) Haemoglobin percentage. c) Absolute eosinophilic count. d) Body weight. e) Stool microscopic examination. Pathological reports of stool samples revealed that the drug is effective in Ascariasis. Significant increase in weight was observed after one month & this increase was predominantly observed who had worm infestation with Ascaris lumbricoides.

Study was concluded as follows –

Vidanga phala churna ( 2 parts), Palashbeeja churna ( 1 Part) Kutaja twak churna ( 1 part) tablet 500 mg/tab.& dose was given 4 tablets – 3 times a days  for 15 days with lukewarm water about 50 to 100 ml.This remedy proved as Good Anti Helminthic Formulation.

‘Krumighna churna’ is definitely effective as Prakruti vighatakara Krumighna drug. Krumighna churna proves to be highly effective against E. Histolytica.
