his dissertation to Pune
University in 1998 for
the P.G. degree M.D. (Kaya Chikitsa). His guide was Dr. R.S. Waray &
Research center was Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nashik.
(M.S.) India .
Dr.
Farooque Shaikh in his research work tried to study the effect of Basil (Tulsi) Juice and Black peper powder
(Maricha) in irregular fever, malarial fever (Vishamajwar)
Study
was carried out on patients of age group between 18 t0 65 years effect of black
peper powder judged on parasitological basis i.e. three consecutive negative
blood smears.
500
mg black peper powder was given twice a day 8 a.m. & 8 p.m. along with the
fresh juice of Krishna tulas administered for
5 to 7 days.
Study was concluded as follows –
500 mg black peper powder was given twice a day 8 a.m. & 8 p.m. along
with the fresh juice of Krishna tulas administered for 5 to 7 days reduced the intensity of fever was reduced within 24
to 48 hrs. & the appetite of the patients became normal. The drug had a
good diaphoretic action & patients when perspire profusely felt lighter.
Sign & symptoms vanished within 7 days & recovery was faster.
